New Richmond Republic admitted as an observer state of the Grand Unified Micronational

The New Richmond Republic has been admitted to the Grand Unified Micronational as an observer state.

​The Grand Unified Micronational (or GUM) is an intermicronational organization which describes itself as "the world’s leading intermicronational organization" and has been a staple of the MicroWiki community since its establishment on the 5th of January 2009. The stated goals of the GUM are to promote communication and cooperation between its members, organize multilateral projects, and assist micronationalists in the development of their skills.

While the Republic or any prior incarnations of New Richmond have never been members of the GUM in their own right, the City of New Richmond has at various times been under the sovereignty of four full member-states: the Confederation of Saint Luke and Amager, the Ashukov Federation, the Empire of Austenasia, and the Commonwealth of New Virginia (the latter two remain to this day). Comrade Secretary-General Brooklyn Hewitt has previously represented all four nations to the GUM's Quorum of Delegates and has served at various times as the organization's Chairwoman, Vice-Chairwoman, and Supreme Justice.

The NRR has been admitted as an observer state, meaning that its delegate has the right to attend sessions of the Quorum of Delegates but not to vote or speak; additionally, the Republic cannot field candidates for election to GUM office and cannot vote in elections. Comrade Brooklyn will serve as the Republic's delegate in her capacity as Minister for Foreign and Military Affairs.
