Mother Hewitt

Respected Mother of the Revolution Brooklyn Jade Hewitt OJR OBM, known affectionately as Mother Hewitt or Chairwoman Hewitt, is the founder of both the New Richmond Republic and the City of New Richmond, the foremost architect and leader of the New Virginia July Socialist Revolution, the core founder of the Blair Mountain League, and the author of the Basic Law. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Blair Mountain League, People's Commissioner of the Republic (head of state), Chairwoman of the Congress of People's Councils, and Supreme Commander; through these offices, she is the paramount leader of the New Richmond Republic.
Since 2013, she has served in various high-profile political offices within the City of New Richmond and the micronations which encompassed it. Within Austenasia, she was an advocate for the legalization of same-sex marriage and a leader of the New Virginian independence movement. Within the Commonwealth of New Virginia, she served as President and advocated for anti-fascism, anti-transphobia and compassionate care for addicts. Mother Hewitt planned and led the July Revolution alongside other members of the 29th of July Movement and established the Revolutionary Committee for the Salvation of the Commonwealth - under the Movement's leadership - through presidential emergency powers.
Following the collapse of the 29th of July Movement and her resignation as President of New Virginia, Mother Hewitt met with New Richmonder revolutionaries and proclaimed the establishment and independence of the New Richmond Republic. She assumed the role of President of the Provisional People's Government and led the reconstitution of the 29th of July Movement within New Richmond as the Blair Mountain League, using her position to cement the party's role in the Republic. She also authored the First and Second Basic Laws of the Republic.
Mother Hewitt went on to be elected as one of two delegates from New Richmond City to the Congress of People's Councils alongside her brother, Comrade K. Riley Hewitt. At the First Congress she was elected Prime Minister (at the time referred to as the Premier), Minister for Foreign and Military Affairs (now reduced to Minister for Foreign Affairs), and Minister for Economic Development and Fiscal Affairs. At the first ordinary session of the Third Congress, she retired as Prime Minister and was elected People's Commissioner, Congress Chairperson, and Supreme Commander.
Mother Hewitt resides in Fayette Commune. An Anglican, she is the Bishop of New Richmond - the chief pastor and head of the Church of New Richmond. She is a classically trained musician, having been a member of various honors bands and choirs in her youth. She is the acting director of Testerman State Agricultural Cooperative. She is a transgender woman, having come out in early 2021.
