New Richmonder Culture
The New Richmond Republic is named for the City of New Richmond, which itself was named for the Amagerian (specifically Liberecan) Commune of Richmond - a reflection of the strong Amatine influence on New Richmonder culture. New Richmond is considered a bastion of progressivism and socialism, as reflected in the Republic's governance. New Richmond's culture is primarily based in the cultures of Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia, with New Richmonders overwhelmingly considering themselves Appalachian in identity.
Typical New Richmonder cuisine is similar to traditional U.S. Southern Appalachian comfort food, albeit with multiple external influences. New Richmond's athletic culture is dominated by American football and basketball. Kentucky bourbon plays a significant role in culinary culture in the city - in many homes, it's traditional after a large family dinner or special occasion for adults to enjoy a glass. New Richmond is home to a small music scene, consisting of classically-trained musicians, bluegrass banjoists, house DJs, and hip hop producers and artists.
The NRR uses a calendar that is unique from the American-style calendar used in the lands surrounding it. Whereas the American calendar would write a date as August 2, 2021, the New Richmonder Revolutionary Calendar would read 2nd of August 2021 (1RY). In the NRRC, "(xRY)" denotes the revolutionary year, with the start of the first revolutionary year being set on the 29th of July 2021 (1RY); dates before then omit the revolutionary year in parentheses.
