Within the political system of the New Richmond Republic there are two great elements of the microsocialist republican system: the Central People's Government and the party. Since the proclamation of the Republic on the 2nd of August 2021 (1RY), the Blair Mountain League - often referred to simply as the Party, the League, or the BML - has served as the NRR's guiding political party.
The Blair Mountain League began as the reconstitution of the New Richmonder members 29th of July Movement - the vanguard of the New Virginian July Socialist Revolution - in the aftermath of the Republic's secession from the Commonwealth of New Virginia. The Party's General Program is built upon the revolutionary micronational ideology Hewittism, the synthesis of the respected Chairwoman Mother Hewitt's micropatriological and micropolitical theories and positions - the BML does not claim to adhere to Marxism or any of its derivatives.
Article VI of the Basic Law both recognizes the party as "the highest source of leadership in the fields of ideology, philosophy, and political strategy" and mandates Party membership for members of the people's councils and the Central People's Government; "as the Party leads in the fields of ideology and philosophy, so the members of the people’s councils and Central People’s Government should be constituent of and beholden to the Party." These provisions are in line with the Hewittist two great elements theory.
The Party maintains active dialogues and camaraderie with Hewittist and other microsocialist and progressive political parties throughout the micronational world, especially the Party of Red July in the Commonwealth of New Virginia.
